It holds. It builds. It becomes something beyond sound, a tone beyond our senses — then she tilts over her crossed legs, and the feedback trills like a throaty lion, sweeps by in a doppler effect or a train made of light and sound and the threshold of pain. The sound between investiga a natureza da percepção humana através do fenômeno acústico conhecido como feedback (ou microfonia). Usando um microfone e uma caixa de som a artista captura sons da sala, que estimulam movimentos corporais nos corpos presentes, que por sua vez provocam ruídos na sala, que são capturados pelo microfone. Por criar tal ciclo retro-alimentar entre o corpo da artista, o som e o público, este projeto faz visível e boa parte das vibrações que existem entre nós.

The Sound Between investigates the role of the human body’s perception through the acoustic phenomenon known as feedback. Using a microphone and amplification, the artist captures sounds from the room, provoking movement responses in the bodies present, which in turn provoke noise in the room. By creating a constant cross-feeding cycle between the artist’s body, the sound, and the audience, this work makes visible and audible some of the vibrating energy that exists between us.
